Public transit: Metro restoring some service
WASHINGTON — Metro will restore above ground rail service on the Red Line between Union Station and Glenmont, between Ballston and New Carrollton on the Orange Line and between Fort Totten and Branch Avenue on the Green Line as of 11 a.m. Monday.
All D.C. stations, except Benning Road, will reopen at 11 a.m.
Limited service on Metrorail resumed at 7 a.m. The Orange Line started running between Eastern Market and Ballston; the Red Line, between Medical Center and Union Station; and the Green line, between Fort Totten and Anacostia, Metro spokesman Dan Stessel said Monday morning.
Metrobus is even more limited, Stessel says. From noon to 5 p.m., buses will run what Stessel calls “lifeline service” on 22 of the most important corridors in the region.
Buses will leave every half-hour from the ends of the lines if conditions allow, but there will be no departures after 5 p.m.
