Hi everyone! Thanks for joining us. We're about to begin.
Hi everyone, it's that time again. Not a real happy Monday in DC, and there is a lot to talk about on this one. What happened to the running game in the 2nd half? How's Griffins knee?
Griffin and the offense couldn't get going like it did last week vs the Bears. Things got away from them in the 2nd half and immediately went away from the run.
Do you think the offense took a step back yesterday?
Jakesnake you are correct and saw what everyone else saw I think. It's almost as if they are trying to outcoach themselves and outhink themselves. No reason to go away from the run I didn't think at all.
Patrick, it seemed to work at the end of the half. They even got bailed out with a penalty, but were tied at the half then up 21-7. No need to panic and play like you were behind. That's the part I didn't understand either.
Janice, are you giving on the season??? I know yesterday was very frustrating because the Redskins were in the lead by two touchdowns. They just needed to put a couple drives together and keep Peyton Manning off the field, but couldn't do it.
Greta, that's the million dollar question today! Alfred Morris went multiple possessions without touching the football in the second half. Can't do that and expect to win.
@bengaliraj I agree with the lack of adjustments. The problem was when the Redskins showed Denver they weren't going to run the ball anymore, the Broncos were able to tee off on Griffin.
@kennyG1423 Kyle Shanahan calls the plays for the Redskins. It seemed like he tried to outthink himself yesterday especially in the 2nd half while going away from the run.
@LaurieShoe that's a great question, I can't wait to hear what Mike Shanahan says this afternoon when asked about it. It seems pretty obvious that they should not have done that, but we'll see what the coach says.
Did the offense take a step backwards yesterday? It seemed like all the momentum it discovered against the Bears disappeared yesterday.
@RMiyasato the defense hung in there for 3 quarters but couldn't do it the whole game. It was a make shift secondary to begin with and played ok. The problem was the offense couldn't stay on the field and keep Peyton off.
Can this team bounce back next week against San Diego? Do you have any confidence that the offense can get on track?
Scott, it would make perfect sense to keep utilizing Morris especailly since that's the way to keep Peyton and the Broncos offense off the field. I don't understand it.
Vermonter, if it doesn't get better this week and next against the Vikings, then the season could come undone very quickly. There are two winnable games coming up, followed by a trip to Philadelphia. There could be major changes if things don't get better.
Exactly Scott, it almost seemed like Denver was just toying with them and when Peyton decided to wake up , it was over! No NFL team should give up 38 unanswered points, I don't care who you are.
Scott, that game was a disaster. 31 fourth quarter points is unacceptable. Like I said, nobody should give up 38 unanswered.
The Chargers have the capability to put up some points too, they better be careful next week.
Thanks everyone for participating today, a very lively discussion! See you next week.
Thanks for participating everyone! Join us again next Monday at noon.
