Metobus restoring service after weather-related changes
WASHINGTON -- Metrobus service is being restored to normal Friday morning after using a different plan to accommodate to snowy and icy conditions.
Metrobus will restore service to all route by 10:30 a.m. Friday. Snow detours will remain in effect, Metro spokesman Dan Stessel says.
Earlier Friday and through Thursday Metro was on a moderate snow plan, which means buses were kept off hilly terrain and snowy side roads.
Metro crews used Friday morning to evaluate road conditions to determine the best time for service to be restored to normal.
Metrorail is affected by snow as well. Most problems are experienced the day after a snow storm as blowing snow impacts rails and comes into the rail cars, Stessel says.
