WTOP Redskins Beat Reporter George Wallace is set to answer your questions about the Redskins' latest game and their season so far. Post your questions and comments now and be sure to join the live chat at noon.
Lorna I don't think Mike Shanahan is going anywhere. It's going to be interesting with him after this year because he will be going into the last year of his contract next season. If things don't improve then I don't see him getting an extension, that's for sure.
The kicking game struggled again yesterday, especially on returns. Can't seem to generate anything in that department. The blocked punt was not good either, can't have those kind of mistakes. Just like that, they were down 14-0. The missed tackles continue to be a problem and I don't understand it. The Redskins lead the NFL in missed tackles
Hey George: Do you think the win helps the Redskins
confidence heading out of the bye week to play the Cowboys. Beyond the
excitement of the rivalry - how do you think the team's mindset is going
Haslett's job is safe as of right now, yes. There have been injuries and suspensions that will end this week. The missed tackles are the biggest concern.
I think this team has always been confident and that's what they have hung their hats on early in the season knowing that they have beaten themselves in the early weeks. A win always helps confidence and should be even more knowing what they did in Dallas last Thanksgiving.
Denver is the real deal for sure. The Redskins go to Denver at the end of October in what will be Mike Shanahan's return to Denver for the 1st time since he left.
After the win yesterday are you glad that the bye is here this early? Or, would you rather see them back on the field next week to see if momentum can carry over?
Readers: Are you excited the 'Skins have a bye week this early in the season?
I've heard people saying that if Morris is hurt and needs to miss time then Kirk Cousins should play because without Morris and the threat of a running game, Griffin won't be successful. Agree with that?
The feeling I'm getting is that everyone is happy with the win, but not getting too excited for a number of reasons. If they are able to beat the Cowboys on the road in two weeks, then things could get interesting.
Helu did well especially since he was playing in front of about 50 family members. This is what they had hoped for by him coming back healthy this year. He's a great change of pace back and has played well on 3rd downs. We saw him able to step in yesterday as well, I don't think they will be afraid to use him if Morris takes time to heal.
Mike G from the Rock! Welcome back, it's been a while!!! I agree that everyone shouldn't be going crazy after the win, there are still a lot of things that need corrected. But, as bad as the NFC East is it's still up for grabs. Even the Giants are winless and still alive.
I agree that Morris will be fine, especially with two weeks to rest. I think that coaches also liked what they saw from Helu and won't be afraid to hand him the ball more.
Lance, you're right about the offensive line. They both run within the system and the O-Line should be fine. I think it's a good thing that you can plug both guys into the system and it still be effective. Griffin will not be sitting, so I hope nobody thinks that is going to happen.
I think the other thing we have to look at is that when they started running the hurry-up offense yesterday the team started to make things happen. They needed a spark and I think that was a big part of it.
Thanks for joining us today. Enjoy the bye week with a win. I'll be back after the Dallas game on Oct 14 at 12pm.
Thanks for joining us today everyone. No chat next week because of the bye, but make sure to check back Monday at noon after the Cowboys game. I'm sure there will be lots to talk about!
