We've heard of beer festivals, and even brat festivals, but this is the first we've ever heard of a BEARD, BEER and BRAT festival -- and we must admit, it sounds amazing.
On Saturday, Oct. 17, celebrate food, drink and facial hair at the Beards, Beers and Brats festival from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Mt. Airy Railyard in Mt. Airy, Maryland. The festival will also include another "b" word (that being "bands"), as well as a beard competition, local food vendors, a cornhole tournament and more.
Starting Oct. 12, Dupont Circle's Turkish restaurant Ankara will serve a traditional dessert called Asure, as part of the restaurant's ongoing efforts to bring Turkish culture to the District. Grab a friend and a spoon and dig in to the dessert, made from grains, legumes, nuts and dried fruit.
What to balance that dessert out with a healthy meal?
Elite Pumpkin Spice Latte fans may be receiving packages from Starbucks. Eater reports the coffee company started an Orange Sleeve Society for the seasonal drink's fans. Membership includes an orange knit coffee cozy, so that even your coffee is dressed for the season.
Taste of Georgetown will take place Saturday, Oct. 3 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on K Street NW between Wisconsin Ave., and Thomas Jefferson Street. The eating contests will start at 2 p.m., and it's going to be a sugar rush! The event is free to attend; food tasting tickets are $5, beer and wine tasting tickets are $4.

José Andrés opened his second location of the vegetable-focused fast-casual concept Beefsteak this week in Dupont Circle.
At Beefsteak, customers can layer an array of vegetables, toppings and small servings of protein on top of grain bowls or leafy greens.The restaurant also serves set combinations, designed by Andrés and his team, as well as seasonal options.
"I'm thrilled to be bringing Beefsteak to Dupont Circle," said Andrés in a press release. "For years, my family and I have been coming to the neighborhood to get the best fruits and vegetables at the Freshfarm market, and now we will be steps away. I can't imagine a more perfect location. I believe many people love vegetables as much as I do, and I'm excited for everyone to try Beefsteak with its limitless possibilities and flavors!"
The Dupont Circle location is open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The burger spot is whipping up a limited-edition Pickled Jalapeno Burger -- a cheeseburger topped with crispy marinated shallots, Gordy's Thai basil pickled jalapenos and sriracha sauce -- in honor of Ray, using all of her favorite flavors.
The special burger ($6.19) will be available at the Dupont Circle Shake Shack from Tuesday 10/13 through Sunday, 10/18. Can't make it? Pick up the 10th anniversary issue of "Every Day with Rachael Ray" for the recipe so you can recreate it at home.
What better way to welcome in the season than with pork barbecue, cheese, red pepper chili oil and barbecue sauce ... all on a pizza, of course! The Boss Hogg is one new menu item at &pizza, beginning Sept. 28 at all 12 freestanding &pizza locations.
The fast-casual concept also added a classic tomato pie and a roasted garlic, fresh mozzarella, grape tomato and arugula pizza, as well as White Birch Beer craft soda and a new line of small-batch teas.

Chef Victor Albisu is expanding his popular Falls Church taqueria, Taco Bamba, to two additional locations in Northern Virginia (one in Springfield in the Backlick Shopping Center and another in Vienna at the Vienna Shopping Center).

Ever wish you knew how to roast coffee like the experts? Well, now you can learn. On Saturday, Oct. 3, Jamie Hodgkin and Daniel Metcalf of Stumptown Coffee Roasters will host a coffee roasting seminar at Dolcezza's Gelato Factory + Coffee Lab in Northeast, D.C.
Sample a Stumptown blend at three different parts of the roasting process, learn about the different brewing methods and see how various brew guides impact the flavor profile. Plus, snag a complimentary bag of single-origin coffee beans and a pint of limited edition espresso gelato.
Tim Ma is on fire this year. The chef/owner of Water & Wall and Gather + Feast is working on opening his first D.C. restaurant (slated for the Shaw neighborhood in early 2016), and just announced plans to open the eclectic sandwich and butcher shop Chase the Submarine in Vienna, Virginia, in October.
The shop, which will seat 20 guests inside and 30 outdoors, will feature an array of sandwiches, as well as beer, wine and a market. Can't wait to get a taste? Check out the concept's pop-up on Sunday, Sept. 27 from 1-4 p.m. on Church Street between Dominion and Mill. Ma will be offering up a sampling of his signature sandwiches and coffee.

Ready for a (culinary) star-studded evening? Mark your calendars for Monday, Oct. 5 for the second annual Celebrity Chef Tasting Dinner to celebrate the life of Mark Kuller and to benefit Careers Through Culinary Arts Program (C-CAP).
A five-course dinner will be prepared by Chef Haider Karoum (Proof, Estadio, doi moi), Victor Albisu (Del Campo, Taco Bamba), Michael Costa (Zaytinya), Austin Fausett (Trummers on Main) and Chef Danny Lee (Mandu). Max Kuller will pair the dishes with wine.
Osteria Morini is gearing up to host its second annual Maialata pig roast on Sunday, Sept. 27. The outdoor event is a celebration of fall, friends and of course, food. A classic Italian pig roast will be help along the riverfront; there will also be games, a cookie making station, live music and a pie toss.
The Fairmont has teamed up with D.C.-based District Doughnut to create a mocha-glazed doughnut, filled with honey pastry cream (harvested with honey from the rooftop's hives). The doughnuts will be served in the hotel's Juniper Restaurant for breakfast Tuesday through Sunday.

Some consider it the party of the year. It's Old Ebbitt Grill's 21st Annual Oyster Riot, and tickets go on sale Sept. 8. This year's event will take place Friday, Nov. 20 and Saturday, Nov. 21, and a crowd of close to 1,000 is expected.

This year's Food Truck Week is going to work differently than years past. That's because D.C.'s food trucks are teaming up with local restaurants to promote some edible specials.
The Washington City Paper reports PhoWheels is teaming up with Toki Underground; the food truck will make a special pork belly bowl for the H Street restaurant on Sept. 9 and the restaurant's chef Erik Bruner-Yang will make a special dish for PhoWheels on Sept. 11.
Brookland's Finest will have a similar exchange with Sloppy Mama's Barbeque, as will Taylor Gourmet and Dirty South Deli's food truck. Food Truck Week runs Sept. 7 through 12. For more information on specials, visit the DMV Food Truck Association's webpage.

Get Ready to Brave the Monster: Snallygaster is Back
