Celebrate the 128th anniversary of Hyattsville during an evening carnival tonight from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Magruder Park. Festivities include rides, food and games. Info here

Film buffs should head to AFI Silver Spring for opening night of Festival of New Spanish Cinema. Kicking off the fest is "Grupo 7," which follows an overworked group of cops as they make their own rules in the war on drugs in Seville, Spain.
